Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) Agenda:
1 - Taxi Overflow
2 - Short Fare Cards
3 - Fare Refusals
4 - Response Time from Taxi Admin
5 - Easy Trip Tag Technology
6 - Any Other Business

1 - Taxi Overflow
DAA inform all taxi reps that the holding area at the top of overflow car park will have to be reduced to a single lane that goes the whole way around. This is due to the land at the back of the overflow area is owned by the commercial dept and they have requested it back and also planning permission has been refused by fingal county council to build a new taxi parking area. It was stressed the importance of having the 8 extra lanes that we have at the back of the overflow that we currently have. It was also pointed out to the daa situations where taxis would be backed up on the road and possibly back to the airport roundabout if this was to happen and a alternative would have to be put in place to what we have currently have. The DAA has taken all these concerns on board and will be looked into further and discussed again at the next taxi rep / DAA meeting.

2 - Short Fare Cards
the daa want to re introduce the short fare card with all short fare jobs. The reasons for this is although having outlined there short fare procedure with notices in the canteen and on both taxi stands at terminal 1 and 2. Drivers are still not following the procedure examples are not approaching DAA staff when requesting a short pass. Shouting over from there vehicles. Beeping there horns to get DAA staff attention and problems have arose in cases where drivers who has not followed the correct procedure arrive back up on the ramp after there short journey and find that due to not following the procedure that they have not been entered in the short pass system. It was pointed out to the DAA the concerns of the short fare card returning examples given if a driver is on a short journey and he or she is outside the 20 minute short fare time must not return to the ramp amd must return to the taxi holding area which would leave the driver with the short fare card in there procession. The DAA will re-introduce the short fare care starting Thursday 26/07/2012 and will have 2 boxes installed on both terminals in situations where drivers who are outside the 20 minute time and have to return to the taxi holding area and queue again then on arrival back on the ramp put the short fare card back into the box provided.

3 - Fare Refusals
At this stage there has been 14 letters sent out to drivers by the DAA for fare refusals. This has been explained by the DAA that fare refusal complaints are on the up and that also the taxi regulators office has also been contacted by customers over fare refusals. It was raised with the DAA the concerns that we have as representives have and all aspects were covered in relation to fare refusals. It was also agreed with the DAA that in the event that a driver has received a letter for a fair refusal incident . And after responding to the first letter explaining there situation then receives a second letter informing them that there permit is being withdrawn and has the right to appeal the DAA decision . Can request a personal hearing at this point and this has been agreed with the DAA and all taxi representives. Advice for TTnH members if in receipt of a fare refusal letter before responding to the letter contact your airport rep or any committee member of TTnH for advice, as you have 10 working days from the date on receipt of the letter to respond to it. Also have the right to appeal.

4 - Response Time from Taxi Admin
It was raised at the last meeting by ttnh that the response time for query's. Complaints and issues that are our members concerns are not being responded to by the taxi administration dept leaving representives with no answers for there members despite weeks may have past since the concern was sent in to the taxi admin. We also asked at that time for a 3 day acknowledgement to be sent out by the taxi admin with a reference number so we can follow up on the issue and inform our members there issue is being dealt with and will be followed up rather then having no information to give them. The daa have came back and said that response times will improve however reference numbers are not possible. Again we have stated the importance of the reference number and to how it would benefit us all to deal with members issues or concerns. It was agreed that the daa will discuss this matter further with taxi admin and discussed further at next months meeting.

5 - Switching Tag Technology
It was raised by TTnH at last months meeting after been brought to our attention by members that some drivers entering the overflow car park at nigh time drive in and get there tag scanned then reverse out and skip the drivers who are following the correct procedure by going the whole way around. We raised this issue with the DAA and asked could the post with the tag scan be moved further into the overflow to stop drivers reversing out. The DAA said the post with the tag scan would be a cost to be moved and in fairness is doing the exact purpose it was put there for it was the drivers who engaged in the practice of reversing out that are breaking the rules. After consideration of how this issue can be resolved at today's meeting. TTnH suggested that the technology from the second tag scan which is at the barrier entering the Kesh be switched to the first tag scan entering the overflow car park. This will clearly show taxi roof sign numbers in order who follow the correct procedure on the main board inside kesh and will eliminate any form of cheating in the future. The DAA have taken this on board and will contact etrip to see can this be done and come back to us with updates on this issue.
